Sweet Merry Christmas

It’s almost the first of the year!!! Where have I been? Well this month has been very busy, my niece Lily turned 1, I was very busy completing holiday cards, and several holiday parties where attended. (I’ll be starting 08 Holiday cards next month:))

I hope everyone enjoyed there holidays and concentrated on all the things that are important to them.

Justin and I spent it with my family here in California, it was very low key:) Last year my niece was born and we where all pretty exhausted; this year was chill. With the exception of my niece now being able to walk and tiring us out.

Little known fact about my husband is that he can bake. One Christmas I was frustrated because couldn’t find Pillsbury sugar cookies to bake. Justin surprised me by making homemade Christmas cookies; I couldn’t help but to brag! This year my friends where looking for cookies and he made them. My husband is sweeter than his cookies:)

Enjoy the pictures from my new camera…it was a very Merry Christmas.

I can’t wait to see you all in the New Year I have big plans for 2008…stay tuned

Sooner than later,

Love Before First Sight:)

Lovely best describes April, her personality, smile and she lit up in front of the camera!

Mommy to be sessions are a wonderful opportunity for me to be a part of something so special, it's a gift to me. Thanks to Demi Moore and photographer Annie Leibovitz; they inspired woman to see how beautiful they really are during this amazing gift of life. I am happy to be one the photographers that carry-on the honor of celebrating maternity pictures.

April should be meeting her little girl Charlie any day now, how exciting! Thank you April for your gift to me, when Charlie gets older she’ll look at your images and she’ll see how in love you are with her right now even before you laid eyes on her. That’s what I saw through the lens, a mother in love.

Can’t wait to meet you Charlie:)

Love in the Fog

The weather has been crazy in San Fernando Valley California, one day is hot and sunny then rainy, foggy and then all three in one day. So when I arrived at one of my favorite spots with my clients; I was not happy to see the fog. Every professor, instructor, teacher and workshop presenter of photography has always said “Be prepared!” I am:)

The Newberns are one of my long time clients; God willing I hope to photograph their grandchildren. They have been with me since the very beginning, I’ve known Eric and Cynthia before they where the Newbern’s. Actually I’ve know him since…never mind (sometime in high school). Their daughter is on my website and soon she will be a big sister ask her and she’ll tell you, even if you don’t ask she will tell you. Thank you Newberns you have made this road rewarding and beautiful I can’t wait for your maternity and newborn sessions.

I cherish all my clients new, current and the ones I’m going to meet. I enjoy and look forward to the relationships that my images allow me to build.

Love,

Z

Sorry I've been away

I can’t believe it’s been a couple a weeks! I have been very busy with holiday portraits, pictures are great gifts for this time of year. Next year I am starting holiday portraits in August:)

Lots of birthdays, my sister Janea also known as “Lily’s mom” (she has official accepted this as a alternate title), celebrated her 25th birthday “The Sequel”. My husband Justin turned 31 and my friend Cassie turned 30, embraced it with an awesome rad 80’s party it was totally fun; for sure oh, my gosh!

Enjoy birthday pictures and beach portraits I took over the last couple of weeks. Currently I am working on some Mommy to be pictures, they’ll be up soon.

Sooner… than later,

Z

Date night make it, keep it and go on it!

After almost 9 years of marriage (15 January 1999) Justin and I still date, many couples forget to do this, because of everyday clutter. It’s nice to sit down and laugh about our day or reminisce about the past. One might think that since we’ve been together so long we might not have much to talk about. Well it’s not true, but even if it were we can always talk about our date.

This Friday we went to the
Getty, one of my favorite places. They had 2 photography exhibits I wanted to see.

Edward Weston: Enduring Vision, famous for finding sensuality in anything, just Google pepper #30. Weston’s work is inspiring because it is still beautiful; with all of today’s modern advances. The Nude, a collection of several artist, nothing jumped out but inspiration can be found everywhere. Maybe inspiration will come later.

The grounds of the Getty are lovely I could stay all day, Justin was the photographer for the day (his arms are longer than mine). As a photographer I am a bit of a control freak about my pictures. When ever people see Justin and I taking our own pictures they always offer. I graciously except…it almost never comes out the way I hope. But in the spirit of good will I don’t want people to be hurt, besides I can just erase it…they do mean well.

Treasure date nights and let strangers take your picture (with in reason)

Minni Minnie Mouse

When Janea, my sister made a big deal about my niece being Minnie Mouse for Halloween (had to keep it a secret, it could be stolen…the idea). I rolled my eyes she is so over the top, but weeks before Hollow’s Eve I was demanding that she, David and Lily have a photo shoot(go figure.) The outfit with matching shoes, and ears too cute! Grammie was even coming over for the shoot.

So for the last couple of hours I have feverishly been working on a couple of images.

It all worked out some friends stopped by and my sister, who hates to be in pictures even joined in the picture fun! She even took some great pictures of Lily, Grammie and I. Enjoy…no I didn’t plan to dress like Lily it just happened but we are cute:)

Maybe next year I’ll…I think I'll keep that idea for next year:)

Beautiful Family*Great Friends

I met Cassie in the 2nd grade and Geoff in the 5th there are so many stories...many which are true about our childhood adventures. I lost touch with Cassie after the 6th grade and Geoff the 10th amazingly the sometimes cheesy social networking site myspace brought us back together. They are both talented and kind people who remind me of a time when, my most important concern was chocolate milk day:)

It was a pleasure and an honor to spend the day with friends doing what I love, photography and socializing! As I am sure you have realized Eli is adorable and for the most part he is just that happy about all of the time. Thank you Geoff, Cassie and Eli for letting me be apart of your life and letting my lens be there for it all.

Yes Geoff and Cassie are sweethearts who met as children and married later on in life it’s an amazingly beautiful story.
